C. Mitch Cameron

Cyrus Mitchell Cameron Sr. “Mad Mitch,” 73 of Wichita, KS, passed away on the 30th day of January 2023, after a long battle with ailing health conditions.

Born in El Paso, TX to the late Donald and Patricia Cameron.

Mitch graduated from North High School.

He worked in the family business “The Prospector” in the 80’s and subsequently went on to a successful career in the insurance industry.

He served his Country as a Marine in the Vietnam War and remained committed to his fellow servicemen.

Played guitar each year at the Veteran’s reunion at El Dorado Lake.

He enjoyed life to the fullest and spent time with his children, often taking them camping, fishing, and of course, playing music by the campfire. He loved to play guitar and enjoyed meeting and playing with many other musicians, including his children whenever possible.

Over the years, he played at many night clubs around Wichita in various bands including the Zapp Band, The Lost Dogs, Friendly Fire Band, and of course, Mad Mitch and the Availables.

Mitch is survived by his daughter, Sophia Cameron of Wichita; and sons, Cyrus M. Cameron Jr. of Tuscon, Alex Cameron of Wichita, Owen Cameron of Wichita, and Justin Riggs of El Dorado; four grandchildren, Brooke, Journey, Piper, and Wyatt; and one great-granddaughter, Zephyr

A private family graveside ceremony will take place at Winfield Kansas Veterans cemetery, 1208 N. College St., Winfield, KS 67156.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: The Lord’s Diner, 520 N. Broadway St, Wichita, KS 67214.
