Goeff was one of the toughest people I ever knew, and a class clown of the first order. Once on a class hay ride, Goeff fell in between two trailers and was run over. He bounced back up and jumped back on the hay.
I was on that same hay ride Douglas talked about. Remember how Geoff got up and finished the evening. We were in the same classes for years at Pleasant Valley. Time does fly.......
That hay rack ride was one of the Pleasant Valley traditions and I was also there to witness Geoff Payne win the fight with the hay rack trailer! Fortunately, it was in sandy soil and drug him about ten feet in front of one of the tires. We thought he was dead, but he got up and got back on and the rest is history. Geoff was a really great guy to know..... and I knew that if I ever had a fight with a hay trailer, he was the guy I wanted backing me up!
