Known to his players and students as "Coach Hendershot", passed away Monday, March 13, 2017.
Maurice was born near Yoder, Kansas on February 1, 1925, to Helen and Chester Hendershot. He was the last living son of six children. He attended high school in Hutchinson; attended Hutchinson Community College and graduating from WSU in 1951, where he participated in football and track. He was also a WWII U.S. Army Veteran. Maurice married Glenna O'Hara on August 14, 1949, in Partridge, KS. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage. He was a teacher and coach at Wichita North High School for 34 years, where he touched the lives of many people.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church since 1953, where he was a member of the 50/50 Class, Men's Prayer Group and an usher/greeter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Chester; brothers, Roger, Bill, Royal, Bob; and one sister, Marie Hendershot. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Glenna, whom he loved very much; son, Ron (Daisy) Hendershot; daughter, Ann (Jarett) Burgett, all of Wichita. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren
