We were friends while at North High. After graduation he enlisted and stayed through retirement. We discovered each other at our 30th class reunion. He was so proud of his military service, proud of his career. It was a pleasure to hear him talk about it. He was proud to be in our graduating class at North High.
Mike had an interest in cars and vintage vehicles and we shared many stories.

Mike Hanson, Tom Good, Chris Grove, and I used to drag Douglas together.
After reaching the West side of our narrow orbit down Douglas we would stop
off at Bay Youth's Grocery Store for a food orgy and pick up frosted rolls or pastrys
of some type. Mike loved to tell jokes, and I even remember a couple of them,
but they are probably too ribald to appear here.
For instance, a boy wanders into the restroom in his father's house and discovers his
Dad putting on a rubber. The kid asks: "What are you putting one of those on for, Dad?"
The father sez: "Well son, I'm going to catch a mouse, that's what I'm going to do....
I'm going to catch a mouse." The kid sez: "You gonna f...k him, Dad?"
